if that negative is deleted through a dispute, do they still blacklist you?

Since I have seen people saying that AMEX never forgets I would assume the blacklist is an internal list. In order to get off of it you will have to pay your default.

I had a less than stellar relationship with Amex back in my BK days. Nevertheless, they recently mailed me several pre-approved offers. A bluff or forgiving new interest? Didn't wanna find out and never replied.

Fens,
If you still owe amex money...they remember. They don;t sell off bad debt. They just wait.
They do blacklist. If they have sent you a pre approved offer......you apply online, you will likely be approved. THEN and sometimes just after you get the card, they will kill the approval and bring up the charge-off.
The only way back in is to pay them the charged off amount.

Hi:
I hear that you can get an AMEX pretty easily if you are a new customer despite dings. I have a friend who went through a BK and got this card like 2 yrs later but never had an AMEX before.
On the other hand , if you have had an account before and screwed up
(i.e. late payments, default) then the AMEX beast never forgets, I had done that like 14years ago, paid it off 6yrs ago and still they will not give me another chance.
