Has anyone tried going in to a grocery store, like Albertsons, buying a candy bar and then getting $50 over the purchase with DiscoverCard?

Does this really count as a grocery purchase, or do you get stuck with a cash advance?

The rewards on Discover suck (except for the ‘Get More” promotions, but this might be a good way to get cash with no interest (using Discover like a debit card but with none of the risks).

The TOTAL purchase price is just increased

SAY THE CANDY IS EXACTLY $0.50 (with any tax)

YOU PAY $50.50

IT IS NOT A CASH ADVANCE

Then since I don’t use CASH I just add it to a future deposit at the back

Not that DISCOVER pays off

You have to get a “TON” of those $50 CASH BACK before you get 1.00%

FYI–WALMART/SAMS 0.25% (never 1.00%)

I didn’t know you can get cash back from a grocery store with a credit card. I always thought you could only do this with a debit card. Or is this only allowed with a Discover card? I’m confused. If they really allow people to take cash back with a credit card, I’m gonna do it every single time. Free rewards. Why not?
