Denial of Credit Card That I Was Accepted For

hey guys wanted to ask...is it legal for amex to do an inqury even though you repeatedly say you don't want them to and then they tell you that they won't because you are a memeber already,then proceed to tell you ,that the line of credit is already approved and that you can make that big purchase you wanted to do,he gives you his employee number, location and name,now you are stuck to pay this big purchase in 1 month ,what can you do since he told you everything was ok and to make the purchase,please help

I'm not sure I totally understand your question . . . . But with Amex (at least with the green card) you do have the option to elect to pay charges over time (with interest, of course). Just call them and request it, or log into your account if you have set up online access, and there is an option to select charges to pay over time. They will assign you a reasonable monthly payment toward the balance, which you will then pay in addition to each month's current charges. You can pay more than the minimum or pay it off whenever you want. Maybe the phone rep meant that it was OK for you to make the purchase and then set up to pay over time. Your bill will show the total amount due immediately; you have to take the action of choosing to pay over time. HTH

nope that is not what he said he said that i am approved for the line of credit at 5.99%,plus i click on the enroll to pay over time and it says i am not eligable, i dont get these guys, i have great credit over 720 with all 3 credit companies, either way they checked my credit without my approval and then denied me something the rep told me i was accepted for
