I'm trying to figure out which "cash back" reward credit card I want. I'd like to be able to contact the different companies, but none list their phone numbers to contact them. I don't want to just apply online without having a couple of questions asked. Any suggestions?

Why don't you try the 'contact us' link for each cc company and take the #s from there? The best cash rewards are offered by a handful companies, so that shouldn't take you longer than writing your post...

Post subject: Thanks for info on 800 numbers
To DaveJ: Thanks so much for your tip on where to find 800 numbers. I'll go there now and try to find them. I'm trying to decide between American Express Blue Cash or Discover Platinum Rewards card. Any suggestions?

Are you aware that with Amex Blue Cash you have to charge over $6,500 over the last 12 billing cycles to be cashing in at 5% on groceries, gas, and pharmacies, and 1.5% on everything else? So if you plan to charge a lot, you'll be golden.. Discover also has a tiered system for 1% rewards that start once you've charged over $3K... Then I believe you can get more as you go higher... And there's also their Get More program that gives you 5% right off the bat, so you might want to check that out...
Also keep in mind that Discover does two-cycle billing, while Amex does average daily balance method (a preferred APR calculation method), but its APR tends to be higher... The good news is that I believe there's no cap on their cash back money, kind of all-you-can-earn type.
