Will an Authorized Credit Card User Be Reported to the Credit Bureau?

Post subject: Need advice

A friend recently added me to one of his credit cards as an authorized user to help me with rebuilding my credit. Citi did not ask for my social security number, but we live at the same address. Will it still be reported on my credit reports? Should I use the card periodically and pay it off? Would this be better than just letting the card stay dormant? I will only use the card with his permission. Will being an authorized user help me to get a card in my own name in a few months? Thanks.

They don;t need your social to report it.....they have their ways!!!!

And it will likely be reported to your report

And your use of the card is irrelevant. Evrything he does shows up as activity on the account. Your card has no seperate breakout. You could never use it and it wouldn;t matter. Heck - you dont even need to possess the card.

Citibank reports AU. If you have a bunch of garbage on your credit report, it probably wont help you much. It probably would be helpful if you had no history and the card has a history of being paid on time.
