How to Deal With Credit Card Collection Agencies

Post subject: Dealing with collections agencies

I recently got copies of my credit reports and was required to verify my address. I just received a letter from a collection agency who was contacted by the credit bureaus regarding a debt I disputed. They are attempting to collect the debt, and advised me to contact their office immediately. I'm not going to of course, the statute of limitations has passed. What's the best way to handle it? Should I ask for them to verify the debt, or just ignore every letter they send? Thanks.

I just ignore my SOL debt letters. Someday...like the others...they will offer a decent settlement and I will pay... (by decent settlement I mean pay them the actual amount or close to that i went bad debt for.)

If they hapen to get me on the phone, I tell them that I am not aware of this being a valid debt. Gotta be careful what you say or you could restart the SOL.

I suppose I or you could write that letter that says do not contact me ever again..(they can but only if its to take you to court)

But then i wouldnt get that settlement i am waiting for. I really wish they would give me that NCO/Oasis deal... that'd be sweet.

Btw, this is off subject but since you answered my post about authorized users Tom, Citibank asked for my social security number in order to add me as an authorized user. Is this the norm? Also, what's an authorized non user? It doesn't make sense to me.
