Post subject: American Express reallocation of credit line?
Does American Express do reallocation of credit lines for its regular credit cards (Blue, Clear, Blue Cash, etc….)?
Here is what happened:
Had a higher limit with a higher BT rate that I was paying. Transferred to Amex and according to them it was approved for the lower rate but the credit line was lower.
This was a 2nd account with a different card. I asked the application lady ifi they could reallocate lines and she told me no, and that I would have to call and speak to someone else to see if they could raise the line (which I assume would be another hard credit pull?)
Would be much better if they could just reallocate the lines since I wont be using much on the other account.

There’s even a button online to reallocate credit limits, so I would certainly hope it’s possible.
(I only have 1 amex, haven’t tried it personally)

If both cards are already enrolled in the online records:
1) Login to amex
2) Click on Account services on the left
3) Click on Credit Management on the right
and you can reallocate

I did not get the card yet. I had applied and did a balance transfer. Since I can reallocate online, then this solves the entire problem plus it increases my credit score to boot. Looks like I saved money and got a better overall credit score. Just hope the balance transfer was approved since it says $0 was approved so far. Will wait to see what happens.
Guess the lady didnt know what she was talking about.
