A couple of the high end cards now offers complimentary telephone concierge services. Has anyone used these? Visa Signature, MBNA Amex Platinum, few others off the top of my head advertise these.

I travel a lot, and I can see the benefit to such a service, but do they actually do anything? I’m interested in anyone’s experiences.

I use concierge very often. World Mastercard offers concierge and AMEX platinum too; however, I prefer the AMEX concierge because they cater to my taste. Their recommendations have been better than those of world mastercard. I get weather conditions, restaurant recommendation and reservations. There was a restaraurant that I couldn’t remember its name. They located it and gave me the number and address as well. So when I don’t have time to make entertainment arrangements, they take care of everything. I find it very helpful when I travel. They email me a list of restaurants, meseums, and things to do. I got lists from both mastercard and amex. The difference was, mastercard recommended cheaper casual restaurants and amex chose upscale restaurants and the places where one HAS to eat in that city.

I used it once to score tickets to a astros game when I was in Houston. Other than that, I haven’t used it.
