I haven’t had a new CC in years but while filling up at almost 3 bucks a gallon, I took a pamphlet for the BP chase card offer:

10% off gas purchases for the first 60 days

40.00 BP gift card after you make any purchase within three months of opening your account

an additional 35.00 gift card if you spend 1,000.00 in the first three months

after 60 days;

5% off on any bp purchase
2% on eligible travel and dining
1% on all other purchases

I currently use the old chase 5 point charter member card, which now just says chase rewards on the card. This gets me 5% on any fuel purchase, and 1% anywhere else.

It seems attractive just to get this card for the 10% off for 60 days and for the 75 bucks in gift cards as I will easily spend over the 1000.00 requirement in three months, and there is a BP close by that usually is within a cent or two of the other stations.

What would be the downside to this??
Anybody have experience with this offer?
Are there any other comparable offers I should be looking at??

This offer was discussed last week or so. Check down the page a bit. The 1k in purchases have to be “everyday” purchases for the second tier of the promotion. I dont know what that means.

Citibank is offering 100 bucks back on the thank you network for several of their cards including diamond preferred and simplicity. Those cards can be used at any gas station for 5%.
