Credit Tips: American Express Automatic Credit Card Limit Increase Tips

Post subject: AMEX card holders…

How many of you have found AMEX automatic monthly CLIs to be pretty much consistent? I have read a few post in which AMEX card holders have stated that they receive regular monthly CLIs without having to request them. I currently have an AMEX Blue card and since becoming a member in February my CL has gone from 2000 to 4000 to 8000. I’m trying to determine the likelihood that I will receive another automatic 2x increase this month…lol. I would appreciate hearing from AMEX card holders about this (I would also be interested in finding out how long you have been a member and the length of your credit history; I have only been building credit for 2 years…yeah, I’m a newbie…lol).

My History is 2 years and 1 month old.

Rec’d AMEX Blue Cash in Oct. 2005 with 2000 lmit.

CL button in Nov to $4000 limit.

CL button in Dec. to $8000.

No love from the CL button ever since.

However, they did approve me for a $10 000 Hilton card last month.

Havnt gotten an increase on that one after my first statment either.

We’ll see as time progresses what happens.

Automatic without even hitting the request button? I haven’t seen anything like that yet with them.

However, the button was very generous for the first 6-9 months.

Yes I keep getting preapproved, monthly CLI. I haven’t “claimed” most of it though, am happy with my current limit.

Mouse has very high limits on many cards. That’s probably why he doesn’t get auto increases–already near max.
