Post subject: When should I apply for a credit increase

I have a BOFA Platinum Card since 11/05, I’m going to do a balance transfer from another Credit Card, I have a $0 balance now with a CL of $3500 on the BOFA ,I’m transfering $1,929. I would like to have more credit available on the BOFA card. My question is: Can I ask for a CL increase before I do the transfer? or should I wait until after I do the transfer? Or maybe its to soon since I’ve only had this card since 11/05.

Bank of America doesn’t like giving limit increases before one year of opening your account. I did manage to get a limit increase after only 6 months but they pulled my credit report. The best thing to do is to call and ask; they do have excellent customer service. Please inform us of the results!

Give customer service a call, tell em you want to do a BT but you dont want to utilize your entire limit, can they please raise your limit to accommodate..

The worst they can say is no,… and you’ve used 5 minutes to get your question answered.

But they may say Yes. Then you’ve used 5 minutes to save a bundle of money.

I have a CC with Bank of America and I was told that they will not look at a credit limit increase until after the account has been open atleast 9 months. I hope that once I hit 9 months which will be in June that I will get a very good increase. Right now Im at $900, and have been using it alot and making payments on time and have actually paid the balance in full every month. Im hoping that it can increase to like $1500, but that could be wishful thinking
