Post subject: Reward credit cards not worth it/
Having ever owned only one credit card my entire life, I am now more interested in getting a new credit card- a reward credit card. I have been leaning toward one of these two reward credit cards http://tinyurl.com/bbkdg (the green and the blue one).
I do not travel a lot but I make most of my purchases online, which requires a credit card. Any suggestions?

Hi Ted,
Here are my thoughts. I use an American Express Gold Rewards card. I have had Chase Reward cards and looked into just about every other card out there.
It’s a fact that American Express has the best Membership Rewards program around. It is also a fact that you will pay for the best program they offer. If you are going to charge all your everyday purchases to your card then go with a Amex Rewards Charge card.
I earned enough points my first year with my Amex card to pay for it for the next three. Not to mention the insurance benefits that have saved me a bundle. If you go with the Green Rewards you earn two points on all gas, food, and drugstore purchases. If you go Blue card you get 1 point for everything you spend and never can earn two.
If you go with the Green card and use it on a regular basis, the $60 will be paid back to you three times over in the form of points, rewards, discounts, and protection.

No, it isn’t a fact. It’s your opinion.
There are many different rewards programs out there, and which is the best for any particular person depends on his/her needs and spending patterns. There is no single rewards program that’s best for everyone. Most of us have a number of cards and use them as appropriate to gain maximum benefits.
And, for whatever it’s worth, I have four American Express cards. I use its rewards program only for airline travel. My other non-AmEx rewards cards are better–FOR ME
