Has anyone been able to negotiate a no-transaction-fee balance transfer with MBNA? Customer service seems to balk at my requests.

Seems to or have they balked? I have never tried but wouldn’t think it would work. I just take what is offered and if I don’t like it, I move to another card offer. Considering that several are moving to “no cap” on bt fees, I am considering a 50-75 fee might be considered a good deal in a couple of years.

If you are looking for a better deal, I would consider threatening to close the account, and see if they give you a retention offer.

Use its BillPay feature to essentially give yourself a 0% no fee BT most of the year…

MBNA doesn’t waive the $75.00 fee

(years ago they did FREE BT’s all the time)

They actually have some “NO MAX” offers

$20,000 X 0.03 = $600.00 BT FEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHOKE ON THAT!!!!!!!!!

Actually I did have luck with this a few months ago with MBNA. I was transfering a few balances. The deal I had with my new card was 3% (no cap on the fee). I did the first one online and I called later and was talking to one of the analysts (I forget why - it may have been to inquire about a larger limit). In that conversation we were talking about BT’s and I said I was hesitating because I didnt want to incure the fee…. he did the other ones for free AND gave me a cash advance with no fee. I double checked my statement and I never got charged.

It neeeeever hurts to call and ask. Worse they can say is no.
