Post subject: Preventing Account Termination for inactivity

Gents,

I could’ve sworn I saw somewhere on these boards that there are sites that accept small charges like $1 so credit card holders can keep their accounts active and prevent termination due to long periods of inactivity.

Would anyone please name any of these sites, if any? I have about 10 inactive cards which I really don’t want closed due to inactivity.

I have Comcast cable and Dish Network satellite. Their online sites accept credit card payments with minimums of $1.00 and $2.00 respectively. I’m sure there are a great many other similar sites…

why does it have to be 1 buck unless you are doing the discover card offer. you could just change the cc used every month. you have to have some service (phone, internet, mail order dvds), etc. you can access and change online.

One way to keep your card active without it costing you anything is to sign up for a paypall account and then use the card to charge 1.00 to your payable to your checking account. Do it every few months and your card will show up as active and it will not cost you anything.

may i also suggest the automated machines at the post office? i think the minimum is now .50 cents. you could also top off your tank or fill your motorcycle with a few bucks at a gas station. how about a prescription co pay? or a cheap lunch burrito? the possibilites are endless. i like the dish network suggestion above, that’s what i do. awhile back they added a five minute wait between charges, so i guess they are trying to prevent that multiple charges–i predict at some point they will prevent it or add some sort of minimum charge.
