Post subject: Dumb question….Chase Cash Plus Card
I know it’s a dumb question and I should know the answer……
Do you get 1% cash back with this card when you pay auto place…i.e. for battery, brake pads, oil changes? I get confused with what you get the 1%s on. How about to pay for hair cuts?
I use this card for every single thing I can but I don’t keep up with what gets 1% and what doesn’t.
Thanks for your wisdom and help.

The short answer is the 5% cash back is for purchases at stores whose primary business is gasoline, groceries (Publix, Albertsons, Kroger, et al), and drug stores (CVS, Walgreens, et al). All other purchases receive the 1% cash back.
The long answer begins with, “it depends….” Wal-Mart pharmacy would only get 1%. A Wal-Mart Superstore may or may not be counted as a grocery store. As for gas stations, it depends on how Visa/Mastercard has them coded, whether as a gas station (5%) or as a convenience store that just happens to also sell gasoline (1%).
That’s my $0.02 worth.

Ok regarding the 1%, everything else includes my paying my cable bill, phone bill, meals, ….literally everything besides the gas, drug store and grocery store? No exceptions to the 1%?
