Post subject: Discovercard: Paying cell phone bill online counts as 5% bac
I just called Discover and inquired whether paying cell phone bills online count as online shopping for the 5% cash back between Nov 25-Dec 31. I was surprised that the answer was "yes". Have any of you tried paying your cell phone bills online with Discovercard when they had a promotion in the past? Did you get the 5% cash back?

That's pretty cool! I guess if it says shopping "online" it could mean just about anything...
I think that promotion starts on the 25th right?

Hm. I can pay property taxes, payroll taxes, federal income taxes and many other federal/state/local taxes by credit card through
http://www.officialpayments.com/
using Discover. There's usually around a 2.5% fee for doing that. But if Discover considers those online purchases too, that's a 5% rebate for a net discount of 2.5% on taxes....

Interesting point Polonius! Can't hardly believe this would work, but stranger things have happened.

Gosh--I've forgotten my own post about this offer!
DiscoverCard limits this on-line shopping rebate to $500 in purchases, so the most you can get back is $25.
