Post subject: Citi Simplicity Cards - Being phased out
Rumor has it that after an initial burst of marketing, Citibank is pulling back on the Citi Simplicity Cards, and will be phasing out marketing in the near future. This card may be pulled from most if not all online credit card marketing sites by the end of the month.
One can only speculate that the marketing pitch of - "No More Late Fees" - encouraged delinquencies which caused a problem for Citi (pure speculation of course).

That's strange... the marketing of the Simplicity card has been very extensive.

Citi is really pushing the simplicity card. They recently talked me into getting it. An overall decent card in my opinnion.

I think we have talked about this before, but their other cards like dividend select have better cash back (simp. doesnt have 5% back at grocery stores) and the informed consumer knows that they have goodwill to remove a late fee. My impression is the consumers just didnt by the hype.

I don't think this is it at all. On the contrary, they want you to be delinquent so they can jack your rate up to 31+%! And, just because they slow online marketing doesn't mean that they won't ramp up offline marketing.
