I think the main BT offer is the one that you get when you first activate the card, or maybe with the application.

Everybody can benefit from a credit card for purchase, and you can, too. Credit card purchases give you a float of 1 to 2 months, during which time you don't need to actually pay for your purchases until the due date of the credit card so that you can use that money to generate interest or to pay for other things of higher priority to you.

Also, how can you not know the terms of the card you were getting when you applied for it? Everything about the card, including the answer to your question, is in the "Terms, Conditions & Disclosures" of the card. In this case, the Blue card is best used as a purchase card as you said since it offers 0% APR on purcahses for the first 6 to 15 months, not to mention the credit line of $19k which is unusually high for a first-timer. 3.99% APR on balance transfer for life isn't bad either, but it's only offered to BT requests made with your application so you've probably missed it. But there are many better BT cards out there. I take it that you have a pretty good credit history for Amex to trust you on a $19k credit line, so you should be able to get most other good credit cards of your choice as well.

Actually, I did not include my BTs on my application recently for AMEX Blue, and was allowed to call them and take care of all BTs a week later and still got the 3.99% on for the life of the BT balance.
