Perhaps I’m a bit confused on how this works…

The biggest negative on my credit history is the length of time I’ve had my accounts (4.5 years is the longest, but I’m only 24).

I have a Capital One Visa and MBNA Mastercard, both of which were student cards. Both have high APRs (19% and 16% respectively). I know I can do better than that.

Is it possible to get a card with each of those companies which isn’t a student card, and has better terms/APRs without losing the length of time I’ve had those accounts? I don’t want to close my two cards, and have my score go down because of it.

You SHOULD be able to trade with-out losing the “AGE” of the accounts…

Thanks! I will try calling them. Worst case scenario is that I just get a new card with better terms (which I’m thinking of doing anyway), and I hang on to the others at their not-so-good terms just to keep the length on my history
