I am a student and I've never had a credit card. I want to apply for a credit card but I'm not sure which one I should apply for or what I should look for. Any suggestions!!!

When I got my first card about 10 years ago, it was a department store card. They are usually pretty easy to get and will help you establish credit. You could probably also get a regualar credit card through your school as weell but be careful, there have stories on 60 minutes about college students getting into trouble with these types of cards.

Nan...
Agree w/ Joe... getting credit established at a department store is one of the easiest ways... i.e., sears, best buys, circuit city type stores...
One method... is to go to sears... and purchase a 200-300 dollar item... and request an account get opened to pay for it... once that is done... wait a few weeks... then take back the "un-opened/non-used" purchase and get them to credit u'r account... U now have started a credit profile... repeat the process... to a few other stores...
one the credit card comapanies find out that others are extending u credit... u'r on u'r way...
One thing U MUST keep in mind... credit cards can cause trouble... if U don't use them correctly... remember... what U buy... will show up in a bill downstream...
