I recently had an experience with making a telephone payment with MBNA. They charge $15 for accepting a telephone payment and they will not allow you to include the $15 in with your payment. They tack the $15 on to your balance, which makes it subject to interest charges. First of all, to charge $15 to accept a payment is ridiculous and to add it to your balance is what I call "gouging". Is there anything that I can do about this? Plz advise. Thnx.

Never heard of such a charge!!!
Maybe they don't accept phone payments as a rule...so for $15.00 they would???
THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE OVER LIMIT FEE OF $29.00 OR $35.00 SOME BANKS CHARGE...THEY INCURE NO COSTS THAT ARE WORTH $29.00!!!

I would try to have it waived as a courtesy for being a longstanding customer. Or, did you need to make a phone payment due to some error on the bank's part such as lack of a statement? If so, I would demand that the fee be removed.
It is unfortunate that MBNA has any kind of charge for a phone payment, and such an excessive one at that. There's really not much to do except not to use it. I know that you can make payments online to MBNA accounts at www.mbnanetaccess.com. You might want to try that in the future.

Some of my card companies charge $10. If it's their fault, they waive it, if it's my fault (once or twice), I figure I asked for it. Capital One waived it anyway the first time, the second time, they didn't - and they charged it to my card also. I'm fixing that though, I'm paying them off this month. teehee.
