Does anyone know anything about the Juniper Mastercard? I applied for it off the link at cardrevolt.com because it said it had 0% interest for 5 months I think. The only thing that bothers me is that they instantly approved me online. I guess they didn't even get a credit report or anything on me. I guess they just take everything you say as true. I just wonder if anyone else on here has one and if they have had any problems from it. Thanks!

Joe,
I am not very familiar with the card, but I will tell you this, they will do a credit check. Even if the application and approval process is quick, they are still able to retain your credit profile and credit score during the process. They need your credit profile to determine your credit limit and the type of card to issue (i.e. standard, platinum, stc.). But I will tell you this, the stated income is rarely verified.
Last I recall about the card were some very high discounts offered with various online retailers, I think this was the best benefit offered.
Sincerely,

Joe,
Thanks for your post! Ironically, I talked to a Juniper rep. yesterday about their instant approval process and was informed that they approve about 25% of applications on the spot. I have a personal friend that applied about two weeks ago for a card and has still not heard whether he was approved. The rep. didn't explain this process in detail, but I gather that it is a very automated process and I assume is largely dependent on FICO scores. Do you think your FICO score is fairly high? Although they haven't been around very long, they are a legit co. and are associated with Columbus Bank & Trust (a well established financial institution).
Hope this helps!

Issuers can get a FICO (credit score) in a very short amount of time. When I was working at NextCard, we had the total amount of time down to about 7 seconds. There are pre-defined FICO scores limits, income amounts, debt to income ratios, etc that you must meet in order to be approved for a particular card. All this information is taken from your credit report, analyzed by the issuer's customer software, and the decision comes back rather quickly. The standard 2 to 10 day approval process is bypassed using this method (but not always - if your on the brink of meeting the required scores, it goes on to an underwriter for a final decision).
Just another FYI!
