How can I remove my name as an additional user from my ex-wife's MBNA account. It is adversely effecting my credit rating.

Dear Dave,

Contact the credit card issuer directly, they may be able to remove you without your ex-wife's authorization. If not, your ex-wife will need to contact them directly.

Sincerely,

Dear Dave:

Actually the issuing bank can't remove the name on anyone's account until the balance is zero. Then you can close that account and open a new one.

The only thing that might save you is getting a court order removing her name and then you would produce it via certified mail and see what they say. When you send it you would want to send to the legal department and perhaps even copy the cardholder division. Then it would be up to them to contact Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, etc to see in the regulations that the banks have to follow if that is deemed okay, since there is a court order.
