What happens to debt when the card holder dies and has no estate ?

Dear Sirs,

If the cardholder had a joint account or guarantor on the account, they will seek payment from such individuals. Also, some states have laws in where married couples are responsible for each others liability, however, in terms of credit card debt, I am not 100% certain that it applies in such circumstances.
