Does anyone know anything about this card? I received a pre-approved notice in the mail, and was considering applying, however, I cannot find any information about the card and its benefits. I've read bad reviews about the gold visa card, and I'm wondering if the mastercard is the same. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Don't pay attention to the card logo or to the metal it claims to be made of. It's the bank's reputation that matters, and Capital One has got no the best of them around.

Amanda,
Eugene makes a good point. The logo doesn't really matter much in this case, because Visa and Mastercard are very similar in terms of acceptance, etc. The platinum Capital One card has a very attractive interest rate of 9.9% fixed and a introductory purchase rate of 0% for six months(see our "Low Rate Report" by clicking on "Card Reports" from our home page). However, the gold card is much less attractive. I am not sure what rate they quoted you, but their website (http://www.capitalone.com) states the gold card has a 19.8% fixed rate and a $39 annual fee.
If you credit rating is decent, I would suggest applying for the platinum card (you can apply online). If you are declined for the platinum card, you will be considered for the Capital One Gold Benefits Visa. The attractive thing about this card is that the interest rate is the same as the platinum card!
If you haven't already, you may also want to check out our cardholder card reviews section (click on "Card Reports" from our home page). There are several reviews for various Capital One cards by actual cardholders.
Hope this helps!
