I'm very surprised that this card, issued by Bank of America, isn't included in your gas & oil rebate section. As far as I'm concerned they offer one of the best, if not THE best rebate program in the industry.
With other gas & oil cards you can never realize the true 4% or 5% rebate. They subtract the previous month's rebate from this month's gas & oil purchases and rebate a percentage of the balance. Thus if you had earned $20.00 in rebate and spent $50.00 for gas, you would receive the agreed percentage on $30.00 rather than the full $50.00.
Sunoco sends rebate checks in multiples of $5.00. Thus if you earn $11.00 in rebates, they'll send two $5.00 checks and carry over the extra dollar to the following month. You can do one of two things with the rebate checks. You can spend them as cash at any Sunoco Station, which in effect limits your rebate since you earn no rebate on gas purchased with the checks.
However - and this is what makes them better than any other card around - you can also send these checks back to Sunoco (actually Bank of America) as all or part of your monthly payment. By doing it this way you receive 100% of the benefit of your earned rebate. I don't know of any other card that works this way. By the way, they do not publicize this option. The card holder must ask about it.
