Amex are offering me a Gold Card at an introductory rate of 8.99% for balance transfer from my current Visa Card. No fee for the first year plus up to 12 balance transfers a year at 8.99%. The rate after balance transfer becomes 14.9%. An interest free period of 55 days adds to the gloss.
The annual fee is AUD$70 after the first year. My Visa annual fee is AUD$40 with an annual rate of 16.9%. As you can see this offer from Amex is very attractive and it is obvious they are trying very hard to break into the credit card market in Australia which has been dominated by Visa and Mastercard for so long.
I have a 14 day cooling off period, during which i will study the fine print, but from the surface it looks a very good deal.
