We have two credit cards. We paid them off and now pay the entire balance every month. Because we do not want to go into debt, I'm in the habit of throwing away those enticing special short-term low-interest checks that these companies send me once in awhile.
Problem: We just made a humongous purchase of a trip to London and Paris ($6200) and will have to pay this off over time (although we hope to do so within six months). I had just thrown away a special low-interest check a month ago and so we used the card for the purchase. I called MBNA and they will not give me a deal on this new purchase although I could have used one of those 4.99% checks if I hadn't been so dumb as to toss it. I called our other company, Chase, and they weren't too helpful about giving us a deal either.
We have very good credit and could probably qualify for any credit card at all. HOW CAN I FIND A CARD THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO TRANSFER MY BALANCE ON A LOW-INTEREST OR NO-INTEREST INTRODUCTORY RATE OR THAT WILL GIVE ME A LOW RATE FOR THE BALANCE TRANSFER, EVEN IF ONLY FOR 3 OR 6 MONTHS?

Check out www.bankrate.com. They have a searchable database for cards with low intro rates.

Melissa,
Thanks for your post! Also check out our "Low Intro Rate Report" within our "Card Reports" section if you have not already. We are the only site to actually rate teaser rate offers and keep this section updated on a regular basis.
Hope this helps! Let us know how things turn out for you.
