Does anyone know of a card that you can transfer your other cards to that will not just give you that rate for a short time? I have platinum rating cards. I think I read them carefully and then pretty soon I start checking the rates I am paying and it is 9.9 plus 6.9 and then I am ready to switch again. thanks for your help. Diane

Bank of America has an 8.9 percent offer for the life of the balance transfer. The smart way to do this is never to use the card after you transfer the balance. New purchases and cash advances are assessed a higher interest rate.

Darrell,

I took the 8.9% in February on $6800 - down to 5437.77. I am making regular monthly payments of 150 per month. ( $600 I pulled off in July for a citi BT of 2.9. Anyway, any idea on if they will automatically raise the credit limit or offer to transfer more over (up to the limit) as my balance comes down?

For carrying large balances I recommend Wachovia “prime for life” Visa. Right now their BT’s are 5.9% for 6 months, then whatever the prime is at the time. Right now it is 7.5%. They do charge a yearly fee for this card ($8 but with large balances you will save money in the long run on interest. Check out www.wachovia.com. It can’t hurt.
