Hello.
I am an International student studying in the United States. I am a Business major and have maintained a 3.96 at an accredited college. Next semester, I will be a junior.
However, I have been rejected for a credit card at least 4 times. I have a clean record, so I do not understand why. Which credit card companies give credit cards to International students? Thanks.

What are your Plans for the future?
1. Are you planning on becoming a resident? Obtaining a
green card?
2. If not, the chances are very slim.. If you were studying to be a Doctor, ect.. You would have a better chance of approval.. You may be able to get a sub prime card.. Major Credit card companys would not approve ..

Oh, really? Thank you so much for the information.
No, I do not wish to become a doctor. I want to work in the entertainment industry, but the business sector is definitely on my list as well. I do want to become a USA resident, but not a citizen at the present time.
What is a sub prime card, and how do I find those?
Once again, thank you.

You may wish to speak to your bank where you have a checking and/or savings account. Perhaps they can help you with a "secured" card. At the very least, they should be able to provide you with a debit card. Then you should apply for credit at a department store or perhaps a gas station and try to build up a credit rating. If you can just get that first card and you pay your bills on time, you will eventually be able to get a regular credit card and card offers will begin flowing into your mailbox (just like the rest of us!). Good luck!
