We have several high rate cards with balances. We wanted to apply for the 0% intro for six months with 9.9 fixed rates on balance transfers. Our credit rating is excellent according to the "tests" you can fill out. After hitting the submit button, 30 seconds later a screen says, "You have been approved for a card with 19.8%". Is this bait and switch? And how do they approve you in 30 seconds?

Those test are NOT reliable, they only try to predict how Fair Issac scores us, so I would not rely on them one bit. These online sites will offer these great rates but if you don't meet their credit criteria they offer you the higher rated cards. they can access your report and score in a matter on seconds. Do you have any negatives, high balances or short credit history?? Have you seen your reports lately?? You said you have cards with balances, are they near the limits, your debt ratios effects your score and other factors as well.

A third attempt with a different company produced a card for us at 8.9% fixed on balance transfers until they are paid off which is what we were looking for. This company took a day and a half to approve us, but they did.
Thanks for the info.
