Can anyone assist me with some advice. The day before the NY incident I picked out diamond stones for earrings while visiting NY. Our agreement was that the next morning I would pick up the earrings to be certified and appraised by an independent jeweler, prior to finalization of the purchase. The next day(9/11/01) the jewelry store was closed and unable to be reached by phone so I faxed a note to the jeweler, stating that I was leaving town as soon as possible and that I wished to cancel the sale as our agrement was unable to be completed as stated. I am being charged for these earrings WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED!, as the merchant states the fine print of the charge slip states all sales are final, despite the form I was provided stating full money back guarantee within thirty days if purchase does not appraise for full price.Does anyone know of the regulatory agencies or anyone I could contact to try to get this terrible time behind me? THANKS !

File a dispute with the credit card company.
Under the circumstances, they should agree with you (even though they had fine print).
“NEVER RECEIVED” is your key point.

Thanks for returning my inquiry. It isn’t finalized but it appears as though the charge company will not uphold my dispute because of the charge receipt “fine print” stating final sale. Have you heard of or do you have any knowledge of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee? They serve as a consumeradvocate with a $25.00 fee, which seems reasonable if they can be of help.

Being present during the NY attack and sudden death of my mother a few dayslater has added to my stress level. Thanks again!
