Can I get anyone's opinion on Rent to own stores. Are they really like high interest credit card or finance companies? I mean , wy pay $3500 for a big screen TV when you can buy one for $1700.00? Just need your thoughts and epinions!

Rent to own is good if you can't get credit elsewhere. I think its downfall is that it keeps you dependent on the rental store because items are so easy to get but costly to own.

I just checked Rent-a-Center stock and I believe it is like $30 or $50 a share. They are cleaning up!

Rent to own is a BAD idea. The reason these companies have come into existence is our need for "instant gratification" in today's society.

As you noted, you will pay far in excess of the value of any item you obtain through a rent to own company. And if you look at the items offered, there is, without exception, NOTHING that you cannot live without.

We all like to enhance the quality of our lives, and there is nothing wrong with that. If you really want the $1700.00 TV or other item, save for it. Get a second job, put your pay into postal money orders or in a bank account on the other side of town that is inconvient to get to.
