I am French and I moved from France in June to work in the US with a work visa, available for 6 years.
As a visa hoder, I have a really hard time to be approved for a credit or secured card.
Do you have any advice on how I could get a credit card and start establishing credit.
Thanks very much

I was in the same situation 1 year and 8 months ago. At this time I have about 25000$ credit limit on my cards..
I think that the best is to get a Secured Credit Card. (You could start with Capital One, or Sterling)

Here is my history after arriving to US:
- after 3 month I've got a Sears store card and a Secured Credit card from Sterling.
- after 8 months I've got an Unsecured Visa from NextCARD and closed my Sterling account.
after 15 months I've got a 0% APR Fleet Card
- after 19 month I've got Blue from Amex, City Platinum Select, and MBNA - all with 0% APR for 6 resp. 9 month:)

I've used my cards to pay for every purchase and then paid the balance in full before the end of the grace period.

Let me know if you have more questions about this "subject"
