I recently got a good offer in the mail from AT&T Universal Card. It said that I could transfer my others cards onto it and get low finance charges until they were paid off. They had blank checks you could write for the other cards. So I wrote out the checks, One to Chase and one for my other AT&T universal card(I figured since I got the application in the mail from them, they knew I already had one card and that it would be alright to transfer one to the other). They credited my AT&T account the payoff on the first card, then put the Chase amount on my first Universal card, then cancel the credit on the new card and put the payoff back on my first Universal card, not giving the second one. That put my card about thirteen hundred dollars over my limit and now my minimum payment for this month is around fourteen hundred dollars. There is no way I can afford to pay that. I called them and they said they'll contact the balance transfer dept. and see what they say about it. Which means I have to call back in about a week to see what they say. Why would AT&T send me this offer if I already had a card? Why would they put the other cards amount on it if they knew that I would exceed my limit. They are so greedy, they want my money so bad, they make up the rules as they go. Does anyone have any ideas?

READ THE FINE PRINT.
You can't pay any bank or affiliated bank with a balance transfer.
You should have over-paid the first bank, ask for a refund check, then paid off the other account.
Now you get nothing for your trouble, except a credit nightmare.

IMO they screwed up. They should have BT'd your cChase balance to the new card, and written or called to tell you you cannot BT from on AT&T card to another. No company allows that - it's in the fine print.
At the very least, they just shouldn't have BT's to your old card.
You made a mistake, they really really screwed up. Be nice about it, though, they'll fix it.
they really are a good company.
