I recently applied for and was approved for a Nextcard online. The card I was approved for was a secured card, and they offered an upgrade. I decided I wanted neither card, and did not complete the process, and in fact emailed that I was not interested in the card, despite the approval. The response was "too late, once you applied you are issued the card" My question is: What is the best way to handle not accepting the card..do I have to close an account, or is not activating the card enough?

When you receive the card, do not activate it AND call them to close the account. They might tell you that you have to write a letter, though.
