Has anyone ever used "Virtual Account Numbers" when shopping online? I suppose CitiCards,MBNA,Discover has started these services.Please give me any information about these services.

The MBNA ShopSafe account number will be accepted anywhere your MBNA credit card would be accepted. The online merchant does not need any special software or applications to process your MBNA ShopSafe account number.
Can the same MBNA ShopSafe account number be used to make purchases at more than one merchant site?
No. To provide additional security at each merchant site, a new MBNA ShopSafe account number needs to be generated for each online merchant site. However, you may reuse the same MBNA ShopSafe account number at the same merchant site if the Valid Thru date has not expired and the balance remaining covers the amount of your purchase.
Can I use the MBNA ShopSafe service to purchase items outside the United States?
Yes. The MBNA ShopSafe account numbers will be accepted anywhere your MBNA credit card would be accepted. The online merchant does not need any special software or applications to process your MBNA ShopSafe account number.
How does a Web merchant know I'm using an MBNA ShopSafe account number?
The Web merchant does not know that you are using an MBNA ShopSafe account number. The MBNA ShopSafe service generates a unique 16-digit account number that looks like a normal credit card account number. Can an MBNA ShopSafe account be declined for a purchase?
An MBNA ShopSafe account number may be declined for a purchase for any of the following reasons:
The MBNA ShopSafe account number has expired.

The transaction exceed your available credit.
How does the Billing and Shipping profile work?

When you generate a unique MBNA ShopSafe account number, a side panel will open next to the MBNA ShopSafe window that will hold your name, your billing address, and details about the MBNA ShopSafe account number you have just generated. This information can be dragged into the online merchantÂ’s order form. You can also set up a shipping profile with a name and address that is different from your billing information.
How do I use my MBNA ShopSafe account number on a Web site where I use one-click or express checkout?
Many Web sites offer a faster way to check out by establishing a profile that includes your name, address, e-mail address, and a credit card number. You can provide an MBNA ShopSafe account number for this purpose instead of your MBNA credit card number to increase your safety and security while shopping online. First, determine the limits you need for the MBNA ShopSafe account number. You should choose a dollar limit that covers all of the shopping you may do over an extended period of time, and youÂ’ll want to decide how many months (up to 12) youÂ’ll want the MBNA ShopSafe account number to be valid. For example, you could set limits of $500 and 12 months, then provide the MBNA ShopSafe account number to the online merchant and complete your one-click or express checkout. All activity is matched back to your MBNA credit card account by MBNA. You can view this activity online in MBNA Net Access and will see the activity on your monthly statement. MBNA ShopSafe transactions will have a "#" symbol next to them to differentiate them from your other credit card account activity.
