Speedway/Superamerica has propaid fuel cards you can use at the gas pump. You can pay for them with any credit card, including rebate cards. You can also reload them (with a credit card) at any Speedway station.

A $100 card costs $96. There is a $4 discount for each $100 spent, $2 for each $50, etc. The card can be loaded for anywhere from $5 to $999.

The question is: if you gas up at least once a week, does a prepaid card like this make sense? It seems like a nice savings, and Speedway is already cheaper than most gas brands.

If you’re satisfied, it’s a good deal for you.

Personally I like my Shell VISA from Chase. It gives me a 5% cash rebate on all my Shell gas. Thus I pay $95.00 for every $100.00 in gas, plus I get a 1% cash rebate on all non Shell purchases.

Thanks, Ira. I don’t know where you live, but I live near Chicago. Shell gas is usually 7 to 8 cents a gallon higher than Speedway, thus making the 5% rebate (for me)nonexistent.
