Can anybody "guesstimate" how many credit points (FICO score) you have to have to be able to get a Platinum Card? I hate for it to be a silly question I just wanted to know.

There isn't one set, required number you have to have. Every company has it's own criteria that would qualify or not qualify someone for their product. Hope this helps!

D MAC,

Misty is right. Each company has their own criteria on deciding if a customer is qualified for a Platinum CC, but the guessimate is around 680 with no derogs, and an established history of over 1 year.

WELL, this tricky, as a new immigrant, i have been looking for a decent credit card from August 2001, I could only qulify for those cards with hefty fees such as uUSA Gold, however, last February I got a BOA secured. last week i checked my credit scor at transunion, they gave me 670 ponts. according to them the too many inquiries on my file hurt my score besides lack of history. I could not beleieve it why ALLFIRST BANK where i have banked for a year would not give me a $1000 loan.
thanks for any inputs

It is not just Your FICO score that will determine if you can get a Platinum Product.. You can have a 700 FICO, 2 Years after Chapter 7.. You would not be able to get a Platinum card..
There are more important things to consider,
1. Do you have the ability to pay.. (Sufficient Income>

2. How many years have you been at the same residence and at you Place of employment.

3. How have you handled your current Credit Cards and how long have you had them.?

4. Do you rent or have a Mortgage..?

5. Do you have any Major Or Minors on your credit report?

Do not put so much thought into Fico Scores.. I have approved Platinum cards with FICO scores in the Low 500 range.. Due to meeting some of the above criteria
