First Time Credit Card

Post subject: First Time Credit Card
Hello every body, Im trying to get a credit card (my first one) with at least $1500 or higher. Im 20 years old and have a job
I tryed to apply for a Visa Gold at my bank Bank of America but was denied and said "Credit bureau file does not contain enough current credit references"
any suggestion for me or will i just need to settle for one of thoes Secured cards?

You can always have a family member co-sign for you. You need to convince them that you will pay it off every month, because their neck is out there, too.

You can probably get approved for a card, but the fees will more than likely eat away most of your credit line. Secured cards are a great alternative:
