Hi,
I am a college freshman without any credit history.
I am wondering if someone can suggest me a good card to start building my credit history.
I know there are some college student cards, but I really don't like those $500 credit line.
All I want is a good credit card from a good bank, even if there is an anuual fee or it is a secured visa.

If you are attending a Four Year College full time and do not have credit... You can get apprved for a Non Secured
Credit Card at MBNA>. Credit line would be 500.00.
With out any credit what so ever.. It would be hard to find an Major Credit Card Company to give you an unsecured Card
with a larger Credit Line, The exceptions being.. Attending Medical or Law School..

Jimmy,
As long as you're at a four year college it is not hard to get a unsecured credit card. MBNA, Discover, and Citibank are all good cards to have. They are unsecured cards with no annual fee and are pretty easy to get approved for. The credit lines will be low and the interest rate may be a little high, but over time at your credit ages, this will change. Discover was my first credit card (freshmen in college). I did not have a co-signer nor any credit at that time. I received a $1200 credit limit at 16.74%. After six months I applied for an Associates Card (now Citibank) received a line of $500. It takes time to establish your credit, but in college it is very easy to do. Pay your bill on time and you should have no problems. Good luck.
