Post subject: Credit Card Comparison Shopping
Hello all...
After we're married, my fiancee and I are going to get a credit card for joint purchases like shopping, monthly bills, etc. So, I have been shopping around a bit. Both Citibank and Chase put out some decent rewards packages for that type of credit card (Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards, for example).
However, she and I have been long time users of MBNA credit cards. I also have a First USA Card (which is Bank One which is Chase) whose online account management just doesn't hold a candle to the one managed by MBNA. I think I tested MBNA's speed once - I drove to Target, made a purchase, and it showed up in my account by the time I got home. Can anyone out there give me a run down of Citi's online account access?
Also, does it hurt our credit to switch credit card companies?

Citi's online account access:
It doesn’t appear that stuff posts quickly (at least usually not the same day), if that is all important to you. They have the typical, online payment from a checking account, online bt's, online customer service, online request for rewards check, email alerts, etc.)

Yes, MBNA has always been on top of the game when it comes to online management! I also agree with maddy on citi's slowness with online transactions. You might see your purchase reflected in an updated "available credit", but once it took weeks for the actual purchase to appear online
But at the same time, don't be so loyal that you put all your eggs in MBNA's basket. Their APR's skyrocket easily, and I'm not aware of a rewards package from them.

I'm not a fan of MBNA because 1) they do not have Direct Connect into Quicken, however they do have Web Connect which involves a few more clicks of the mouse/keyboard to download transactions, but then again 2) they don't update the list of transactions downloaded with Web Connect until after the statement period closes.
It may take a couple days for transactions to post with Citi and Chase/Bank One/First USA, but they download automatically without having to wait until after the statement arrives to download transactions.
