Post subject: Applying for a Credit Card After being Rejected
I applied for a Chase credit card back in March and got rejected and I was afraid to apply for any more at the time because I didn't want to hurt my score any more than it was already hurt. I have very little credit history (cancelled the only card I ever had) and then I had one delinquint bill. I've paid off the bill since March, but my credit score is still 680, acc to Transunion. Should I have a better chance of getting an unsecured card now or should I wait for a six-month point (i.e. Sept. 13th)? I'm not looking for a huge line of credit, just something that will help me build my score and let me get used to using and paying off a card. I'm a grad student who doesn't make much money and has unpredictable paychecks.
Thanks for any advice. I've always been afraid of credit cards, but I'm trying to be a grown up about it, seeing it as I'm moving ever closer to the day I might want to actually buy something grown ups buy...like a house.

You're thinking too much. You want a card? Apply for a card.
One inquiry is near meaningless as far as your credit score is concerned. And even that inquiry is absoluely meaningless if the next bank you apply to doesn't pull TransUnion as the credit bureau to ask about your credit history. (The other bureaus will have no record of the TransUnion inquiry.)
I would suggest not applying for the same Chase card, though. If it turned you down in March, why wouldn't it turn you down again now? Why not try a different bank and a different card, if you're going to just apply for a single card...

try to apply , for multiple banks as Polonius said . My recommendation is to check this site: www.whogavemecredit.com to check other banks and which credit report agency pulled for the application.[/url]
