I have received a solicitation for a card and was wondering if anyone has experience with this bank and what your thoughts are. Especially interested in the quality of customer service and how often credit line increases are granted.

Dave,

Thanks for your post - I always enjoy reading your insights about credit cards and hope you will continue to use our board (I'm assuming your the same Dave that has posted previously).

We rate the Universal Card very highly in our "Low Intro Rate Report" and many consumers have applied for this card through the link on our site. Though the Universal Card does not sponsor our site, I would personally recommend this card...because I am a cardholder myself. I can't comment on credit line increase, because I have only had the card for about six months, but I do know that their customer service has been great. I have called them a few times and have always been satisfied with the level of customer service.

You also get a free calling card...at least I did. You can find out more info. about this card by visiting their web site...

Hope this helps!

Dave, this card is issued by a Citibank affiliate, and to my experience, Citibank is on of the best in customer service.

If you got the same offer I got, with a choice of 1.9% APR on balance transfer amounts of $3,500 or more, or 2.9% APR on lesser amounts, be aware that the 1.9% APR applies ONLY if you transfer balance at the time of accepting the application (I am not sure about 2.9% one). It was very unclear in their offer, so don't make the same mistake I made. Later, 2.9% applies instead of 1.9%.

About the free $100 in phone calls, the rates are just outrageous, so it's not gonns last long. It's better than nothing, though.

Eugene.

Dave,

You might want to also read the posts (if you haven't done so already) in our new Cardholder Card Reviews section (click on "Card Reports" and then click on "Card Holder Reviews". I noticed 4 posts about the Universal Card (would love for you to post a review later as well).

Let us know how things turn out!
