Post subject: Dismissed Lawsuit on Credit report

Hi all!

I have a lawsuit on my credit report. It was filed on 6/95, and dismissed (not settled) on 6/96.

I have tried to get the credit Bureau to remove it, but they just added the "Dismissed."

Since it was just a suit filed, does it have to stay on? If not, what law can I quote?

Thanks!

joe

Re: Dismissed lawsuit on Credit Report

While you might not be able to get them to remove the entry on your credit report, you have the right to place a 100 word 'explanation' regarding the entry that they are required to send along with the report to anyone who orders a credit report on you. Try a search "Fair Credit Reporting Act" and you will find all the details you need regarding your credit report and your rights. Hope this helps.

Was this a public record. Keep trying to get it removed. A 100 word statement does no good when most credit issuers don't see a copy of the report. They rely soley on the FICO score. FICO scores do not reflect the 100 word statement. And a public record could harm your score.
