You know the old saying" Don't leave home without it",Well,
in the case of Discover. Please leave it. I have been gouged by them ever since they dropped my credit approval balance and I have been paying a higher rate, a penalty for over the limit and a late penalty for over a year. It is tantamount to racketeering. However, I realize they have the right to charge exhorbitant rates because I signed the application. Please, people. Do not use Discover or you will discover a lot of headaches like I did.

Hi Linda,
I think what he is saying is that DISCOVER has lower his credit limit below the original limit at the time he has been approved for.Creditors can do this as it is written into the credit card agreement under this"We can increase or decrease your credit limit at anytime. If we do we will notify you by sending a letter.

I have a DISCOVER PLATINUM,and to this day i have never had any trouble with them.Have you got somthing on your report on your credit file, and you don't know it?Creditors now days are checking on you every month now. This may be the reason why they lowered your credit limit, and you are being hit with over limit fees.So if i was you i would get a copy of all 3 credit reports, and see if their is indeed negative information on you.

Discover Card can ruin you and your credit. What happened to me should not of happened. I called Discover when I divorced May of 1998. The balance was 2500.00. My ex I thought was paying on this. Discover did not contact me till November of 1999. They said they didn't have my number, I asked how they called that day. We just found it.
I tried to work something out with Discover but they wouldn;t hear of it. Real bad customer service. Between the late fees, no payment fees, over credit fees my ex and Discover ruined my credit.
The bills were going to the ex. Since I didn't hear from Discover I thought everything was fine till they called me Nov of 1999 and wanted $900.00. I was in disbeleive.
Well make a long story short I had A1 credit. 0ne item can ruin you. I still have A1 with my creditors but they are finding out about Discover and raising my interest to the max. I've had Citibank for years. A1 with them. They sent me a bill with in bold letters your interest is raised to 29 percent interest because you have not paid one of your creditors. Talk about a blow. Its depressing that they can get a way with this.
My advice take all bills in your divorce and make sure their paid because in the end you can get skrewed real bad like I did. Discover card could of worked with me after it took them so long to contact me. But of course they put it on my Credit report. I didn't know because I hadn't applied for credit during that period of time.

Long agon, credit card companies treated customers like they were appreciated and wanted their business. Now you have to purchase credit protection (85cents per 100?) in case of life changing events. Now for my life changing events: 1) Hurricane Ivan and no mail deliveries or pickups, banks closed and no power for online payments 2) Mom dying and I was not home enough to maintain bills & record keeping.
Strike TWO and you are out per Discover. First offence, they did reinstate my lower int. rate. Offense #2, They hiked my rate even though I assured them I had made the payment in the local Sears store on time. The Sears employee told me it was to be posted same day and was not late.
I was not late, but Discover was not willing to negotiate. They said I should have been paying for the credit protection services. I have spoke to 5 different Discover employees on different occasions and was promised the rate was to be reinstated until someone informed me, I had to wait 9 months before asking for forgiveness after 2 offenses (remember I was not late 2nd time). I closed the account NEVER to do BUSINESS WITH DISCOVER again and now I'm pondering my SEARS loyalty.
