I took an offer from FirstCard, USA for a Visa offering a low
introductory
rate of 3.9% for 6 months, and then a 17.65% rate thereafter.
My intro rate
just expired in January 2000, and much to my surprise, the
interest rate was
raised to 21.49, and again in March to 21.74%. I called the
credit card
company hoping to make some sense out of this huge increase, but
were told
that they could not offer me a lower rate than this because of
one late
payment made in July 1999. This is absurd. Needless to say
that I intend on
transferring my balance to a more reputable card, and do not
plan to do any
more business with FirstCard, USA

First USA just kicked my interest rate to 27%.
I've been with them since 1997, never been late and always pay a little more than asked.
Surely there is some Federal Agency who would not condone this!
