Post subject: Newbie with a credit card

I just received my first credit card and have a few questions on how to use it with machines like the ones at walmart etc. After the cashier rings up your order waddya sposed to do? Swipe it? Press something then swipe it? Swipe it then press something? I have no clue and don't wanna look like a complete idiot. LOL Thanks.

Them machines at the walmart stores are getting confusing.. the automated check out machines we just got install in our store. It should ask you the type of charge you want to make, then when you select credit, it will prompt you to swipe the card, strip facing down through the area on the machine where it indicates that the card goes... then if you where using a card with a pin number you might be prompted to type in a 4 digit number on the pad beneath the swipe strip section. I think on the swipe pads you can go left to right, or right to left... make to work being swiped either way.
