I have had one of my credit card companies call me to ask if I had made some outrageous purchase. When I said no they said it was probably a form of scam and immediately sent me a new card with a new number and cancelled the existing account. The company I was with some years back was victimized by a clever scam with stolen credit cards. You can call on Monday between 3:00 & 4:30 PM, or Tuesday afternoon. If those dates don't work, let me know. I think you already have my cell phone, but just in case I'll email it to you.

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

Ira

Hi. I am concerned because I got a phone call tonight with someone telling me I had applied online for an unsecured credit line. I kept telling them that I wouldn't be accepted for more credit, but they said I was already approved, they just needed information. They said they were "USA Credit". They asked a lot of questions, including my bank name, my routing #, and all the other personal info like, SS#, date of birth, etc. Then they said they were transferring me to someone who would set up my account and give me my new account #. A recording came on that said I needed to hold; after a while it said my hold time would be 8 minutes. After a few more minutes, the line disconnected. No one ever called back, and I didn't have any idea how to contact them. I came online and went to usacredit.com, hoping that would be their website. It said the website was found, but was one of those messages that said either reload or try to access the site at a later time. I am now panicking because I gave out so much personal information over the phone. No one, not ever, has ever asked for my bank routing # before. Have you heard of USA Credit? Do they exist? What should I do now? Thank you.USAcredit Fraud Inc. called me 5 times today (800) 634-6729 each time they hung up... then when i called back.. Please hold for 8 minutes.. then they hang up... etc...etc.... I have great credit, and i know for fact i did not apply with them, never heard of them, and dont need them, but am curious on why they keep calling.... if you are on that DO NOT CALL LIST, then report them, and let your uncle sam fine them.... NEVER GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OUT. EVER.. UNLESS YOU KNOW YOUR CREDIT COMPANY THAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH.. LIKE ONE OF YOUR MAJOR CREDIT CARDS, AND ONLY IF YOU CALL THEM, NOT IF THEY CALL YOU...NEVER GIVE ANYTHING OUT IF SOMEONE CALLS YOU... Im interested on who these idiots are... Thank-You OneHosting.netHi Im new to this forum, and I received a call from the 800 number this morning on my cell phone, which I dont give out to anyone unless I know them, Anyway they hung up after 3 rings, so I hit redial, and got this recording saying it was USA credit, so I just hung up thinking they called the wrong number, then at 400pm today they called back, I didnt answer, but I decided to do a google search, once I typed in the 800 number I came accoss this forum!!! Turns out they called my co worker last Thursday saying she had applied for a credit card and that she had bad credit, well that set her off and she began to tell him how good her credit is. The man said sorry, and hung up. Im glad I found this site. Cant be too carefull with theft identity running rampant.

No but they called me 2 times today. I would inform you bank of this and ask them what they would do, or to contact you of any uncertain charges.

I received a phone call from USA Credit (aka USA Shopping Club) also. The rep said he was calling about a credit card for which I had applied. Since I recently applied with another credit card company and was informed that I would be contacted regarding their decision within 2 weeks, I didn't think anything of it, nor did I think anything of giving my bank info to them (my current credit card company asked for the same info, and I've had no problems with them). When I visited the shopping club's website this morning and realized this was not the same company with whom I had applied, I was absolutely livid! I immediately sent them a very nasty (but carefully worded) email telling them that they were not to deduct anything from my account or I would report them to the Better Business Bureau and contact an attorney, accusing them of fraud. Unfortunately, when I went to an ATM a few hours later, I found a discrepancy of $80 in my bank account. My bank is closed today, and when I tried to call the 800# for the shopping club, I got their answering service. I will certainly be calling my bank first thing Monday morning to verify that USA Shopping Club did indeed access my account. If that's the case, I'll be following through on my emailed threat (I also work for a local newspaper, and I'm sure my editor would be very interested in this story)! I'll keep everybody posted on this.

Post subject: USA Shopping Club strikes again!

I contacted my bank on Monday, 10/25, about the $80 discrepancy, and they told me it was for an ATM withdrawal which I completely forgot to record (I almost never forget those things, but this was one of those times). I reported the shopping club fraud to the rep over the phone, and she said there was no way to stop payment on the $79.95, since it would be deducted electronically. She said if it goes through, I can sign a denial form & the bank would recover my money for me. I received an email from USA Shopping Club on Thursday, 10/28 (5 days after initially emailing them to cancel the withdrawal). It said that their email department doesn't have the authority to stop accounts, and that I would have to call their customer service department (apparently they don't have any way of communicating between departments). I called my bank again, and they told me the shopping club deducted the money on Monday afternoon. They suggested that I sign the denial form ASAP. I called the customer service department of the shopping club, and the rep said they didn't get my email until 10/27 because "the email department must have been really backed up"(?!). As I "explained" to her, I don't see how it takes 4 days for one department to get a message to another, especially one of this importance! Then I told her I would be contacting the BBB about their operation, and hung up on her. A few minutes later, her supervisor called me back to say that they had cancelled my account and there would be no further withdrawals. She tried to give me the same story as the other rep, and I told her that if a customer service rep in my workplace received an email from a customer saying that they wanted to cancel a payment, that info would be given to our billing people IMMEDIATELY. In the event that payment had already been processed, we would at least call the customer, explain what had happened, and refund the money ASAP. I asked her why someone from their office (customer service or email department) didn't call me first thing on Monday about this. She couldn't answer me. I reiterated my intent to contact the BBB about this. I also told her that I've been hearing alot of complaints from other people who have had similar experiences with this company, and it's about time somebody had them shut down. I'm currently investigating the possibility of a lawsuit against these people for fraud, theft by deception, and any other charges that can be included.

Post subject: What can we do?

Obviously, there have been more than a few people ripped off by this so-called "credit card" company (and the postings here are just from those lucky enough to find this message board!). I recently received word from my bank that my money has been refunded to my account and all charges incurred for the overdraft caused by the withdrawal will be refunded by the bank as well. I also received a response from the BBB. Although they can't "take sides", as the letter stated, they did contact USA Shopping Club about this situation. The letter I received included the shopping club's response (which, of course, claimed no wrong-doing). Personally, I've been considering filing suit against them, if for no other reason than the aggravation they caused me. I'm not sure how strong my case would be, especially since my money has been refunded, but how many other people have been harmed by this operation who haven't been reimbursed because they didn't know where to turn or what to do (or they may have been too ashamed that they fell for the company's lines)? I've surfed the web for info class-action suits, and found some very useful info on how to go about filing one, if anyone here would be interested in joining me. It could take quite a while (possibly several years) to resolve one, but if anybody else thinks it might be worthwhile, please let me know (keep in mind that the more people filing the initial claim, the more seriously that claim will be viewed by the courts).

Hi, I am new to the forum I came across it while Google-ing the above phone numbers which have been calling my cell for the past two days but when I call back the 800 number I get the same message about wait 8 minutes. I am really worried now because it says it is the "New Account Activation" department and I would never apply online for credit. If anyone can suggest what to do I'd really appreciate it. Post subject: USA Credit

Hello I'm new to this but I too have am a victim of USA Credit. I applied for a credit card and the next thing I know there was $149.95 debited from one of my bank accounts. I used another bank account to apply for the credit card. I received an overdraft notice from this account. I know I wasn't overdrawn, so I have to take care of that first thing tomorrow morning. I was surprised that my other account was debited. I spoke to a representative from the bank that the $149.95 was taken from, and was advised that my info was probably sold and that's how they got my other account info. I have to close out both of my accounts and get new ones. I'm affraid I may have to contact Social Security and see if there is something I can do about my number. I'm so upset.

My children & grandchild are my greatest joy!!!

I was contacted on 5-11-05 by "USA Credit" informing me that someone had recently made a credit application in my name and that they were calling to offer me a $7,500 credit line. Immediately I became concerned because I have never applied for any credit with any company. I dont even have a bank account of any type. Initially one representative called from 1-800-634-6729 but thqat person just transfered me to a sales person who insistantly tried to give me their sales script. When I interupted her pitch to inquire how they got my info she hung up on me. Since the call was to my cell phone I got the number and called them back right then. The third representative gave me their customer service number of 1-800-262-4192 and a web site for their company of platinummemberservices@usacdt.com
Next I began looking for info. about them and with the original number that called me and their name in a search engine found this site. Obviously someone is looking into trying to use my identity to establish a credit line. They stated all the information they had was my phone number and mailing address. I really am sceptical about that and plan to do some more checking on this subject. They couldnt or wouldnt tell me exactly when and where they came by my info. Anyway...be very careful with your info and check up on any descrepencies you become aware of. It may save your credit and alot of headaches.
