Post subject: Good news - I was approved for Citi Dividend card!
hey everyone, Just wanted to say that I was approved online for the Citi Dividend card. I was only given an initial limit of $2,300 which sucks because I needed to make a 5k purchase. Don't know why the limit is so low... CAN'T A GUY GET HIMSELF INTO DEBT THESE DAYS. They said it was probably due to my limited credit history and the small accounts that I have besides my college loans. So I am overall happy. I called their applications dept because I thought there was a problem. They were very helpful and nice on the phone. BTW- They pulled my Equifax -rhin0

When I had Citi, they gave me an automated increase just within 6 months.. so you should have room for improvement with them.

Thanks guys. I don't plan on carry and big balances and I really wouldn't even need anything over $1,000 really. I just wanted like 5k limit so I could make this one big purchase. I'll just have to put half on it, pay it then put the other half on. I won't ask them for an increase but if they offer it i'll take it probably just to have more credit line.

Congratulations on the card. I personally think you'd be better off with AMEX Blue Cash, but Dividend is an OK card.

thank you guessindigo. i wanted to apply for AMEX Blue Cash, but i'm not sure if they approve my application or not, because i have a short credit history. i moved to the states in december 2002 and got my first credit card on march 2003, that's not even two years credit. i think i'm doing good establishing a credit history but i guess still not enough to apply for AMEX? i received several offers for green, green with reward and gold cards. but never for Cash Blue. maybe oneday!

Why? I didn't see any real benefit especially since I don't have a whole lot to spend on a credit card. If I spend a lot i'd get the Amex. Maybe in the future. Still like to hear your reason though.

Often times AMEX BLUE CASH runs programs where you earn double cash back when you dine out or shop during a specific promo period. Also, the credit lines tend to be larger with AMEX and the Customer Service is better than that of Citi.
